Speckled Wood Art

Flora McLachlan

Flora draws her inspiration from fairy tales, poetry and long walks in wild places.  Drawing mostly from her imagination when createing etchings, remembering magical things she has seen – or wished she might see.  Flora is interested in the relationship between the landscape and the animals, birds and insects that live there, mostly unseen, and the way it is both protective and hostile.  She imagines the creatures in their sanctuaries during the day; then dusk falls, and they come out to roam.

In 2008 Flora was elected to Associate Membership of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, based at the Bankside Gallery, London; having shown at the RA Summer Exhibition, Glyndebourne, the Ashmolean Museum and Henley Festival.
