Jane Anderson Wood

Jane is a highly regarded painter & teacher working in watercolour. She has had many years of teaching experience, in art schools, Adult Education and in private classes.
She exhibits her watercolour paintings regularly in group and individual shows in and around Surrey where she lives.

A postgraduate student of the Slade Printmaking Department, she ran her own studio for stone lithography in London, where she worked with artists and publishers. She began painting in watercolour after moving to Surrey with her family and is best known for her landscape and still life subjects.

There is a shared repertoire of subtle visual qualities in both lithography and watercolour which helps explain Jane's move into watercolours. She has a considerable knowledge of watercolour, and paints with a concern for drawing and imaginative interpretation through the rich and magical translucency that watercolour can offer.

Her paintings are usually studio based, where she can develop the carefully organised and delicate washes and glazes which are so characteristic of her work but she draws and paints outside in the landscape too, when bold mark making and lively colour can also play a part in her painting.
