Sidney Wood is a painter concerned with the passage of time and the process of change on buildings, artifacts and on ideas. Her current work is inspired by Cathedrals such as Chichester, Winchester and St. David's in Pembrokeshire. The paintings are built up like a palimpsest of images and words overlaid and worn away by time and the elements. Fragments of the past, relics from an earlier age, the enduring and the fragile, and precious objects, carefully preserved through the ages, are encountered alongside contemporary objects and ways of thinking.
